Tik ‘Bliss Windows’ op Google Search in en tien-tegen-één dat miljoenen referenties naar de beeldschermfoto van Windows XP verschijnen. Miljarden mensen hebben de foto van deze heuvel ontelbare keren aanschouwd op alle mogelijk denkbare lokaties, waaronder het Kremlin, paleizen en presidentiele onderkomens.

‘Bliss’, een wereldberoemde heuvel in California, Google Maps coordinaten 38.248966, -122.410269, waar nu op professionele wijze hét mythologische symbool voor overvloed, vreugde, en vruchtbaarheid wordt geteeld. Druiven.

Druiven waren ook de aanleiding voor globetrotter Charles O’Rear, gespecialiseerd in fotowerk over van alles dat met wijn heeft te maken, aldaar fraaie sfeerfoto’s te maken.

Het kan soms verkeren, nietwaar, want op de vraag  aan de fotograaf Charles, ‘Chuck’, O’Rear hoeveel hij verdient aan de licentie rechten op de  ‘Bliss’ foto, antwoordde hij volgens dit artikel adrem:

“Extraordinary and second only to that paid to another living, working photographer for the photo of then-President Bill Clinton hugging Monica Lewinsky.”

Oops! ………., chuckle, ……..,  I´ll bet you, O’Reary, that’s a hell of a lot of money!

Anyhow, amongst many others who have a penchant for opportunities, O’Reary is no  fool on the hill.  All of them, however,  having two obvious things in common. Dedication and a total unawareness of the ‘whatever’  future outcome of their professional attitude towards their specific obligations during those particular occasions. Which may be expected from anyone during a normal call of duty.
