Da’s gemeen! De EURO geen Nobelprijs voor economie

De EU kreeg de Nobelprijs voor de Vrede, en nu mag de euro niet delen in deze vreugde. Dat is gemeen, want als er één ding is dat economen wereldwijd vast in hun greep heeft, is het wel ‘de euro’. Een ding dat bovendien nog maar elf jaar oud is. Uniek! Gemiste kans!

Het is zowiezo hoog tijd dat zo langzamerhand ook eens een teenager aan de beurt komt voor een Nobelprijs. Hier is er dan eentje die voor het oprapen ligt, maar ‘nee hoor’! The winners are Alvin_E. Roth en Lloyd_S. Shapley, twee geleerde Amerikaanse heren, verbonden aan gerenommeerde universtiteiten. Wéér mannen, die er een spelletjes theorie op nahouden.

Ondanks dat de euro, een 11-jarige teenager, een mega-economisch experiment dat nog nooit eerder is vertoond en nota bene, nogmaals, de hele wereld in zijn greep houdt. Van Goldman Sacks’ Finkenstein die zegt “God’s werk op aarde” te doen tot de arme Griekse boer, ploegend in God’s aarde, een belastbaar jaarinkomen van 497 euro met stiekem 15 miljoen euro op z’n Zwitserse bankrekening.  Of de Italiaan, die een hypotheek krijgt op een huis dat niet in het kadaster is vermeld en Kees Jan de Jager verleidt tot uitspraken, die hij achteraf niet waar kan maken. ’t Is toch niet te geloven?

Niet te vergeten de duizenden economen, politici, filosofen, sociologen, zelfs dominee’s, die over elkaar struikelen om de therapie te duiden voor wat deze bandeloze teenager zonder blikken of blozen blootlegde. Met alle gevolgen vandien.

En dan geen Nobelprijs voor zo’n praktisch euro ding, waarmee zelfs de politieke vaders jongleren en dik geld in zien?  Onbegrijpelijk!

Blijkbaar is er dan toch iets serieus mis met dit zoontje van de vele trotse, vredige Nobelprijs dragende Europese vaders.

Zou dat misschien komen omdat er geen Europese moeders in velden of wegen te bekennen waren? En zijn? Ook nu weer binnen het huidige trotse Nobelprijsdragende quintet Van Rompuy, Draghi, Barroso, Juncker en Schulz?

En de volle ooms Hollande, Monti, Samaras en Rajoy alsmaar Tante ‘Mamma Mia!’ engeltje Merkel de voet dwars zetten, zodra ze poogt het gedrag van deze losbandige teenager enigzins in toom te houden?

Of is het dan toch niet gemeen om in dit geval geen symbolische prijs uit te keren?  Lastig…

Blijkbaar is er dan toch écht iets goed mis met niet alléén deze losbandige teenager, waar niemand raad mee weet.

Schizofreen misschien? Als gevolg van politieke inteelt?  Te absurd voor woorden. Maria wordt ook toegedicht dat ze onbevlekt een zoon ontving. Een fabelachtig verhaal waaraan tegenwordig nog weinig geloof wordt gehecht, maar ooit eens door de Inquisitie werd bestraft met de brandstapel indien openlijk een vraagteken achter deze fabel werd geplaatst.  Desondanks, of juist mede dáárom, werd Maria op een nivo’tje lager toch tot heilige verklaard.

En dan gebiedt de etiquette om kritiek achterwege te laten, want dit wordt al snel als een serieuze bedreiging of heiligschennis beschouwd. Al helemaal indien men tot over de oren verliefd is en dit met symbolen versiert. Blijkbaar is de euroteenager daar nog niet aan toe.

Schuif nu niet de schuld in de schoenen van de Voorzitter van het Nobelprijs Comité, tevens Voorzitter van de Raad van Europa en voormalig mislukt Premier van Noorwegen, omdat hij wél en níet (on)handig met die Nobelprijzen omgaat. Or decides ‘Brussel’ in its usual and political willfulness solely again who shall represent  the European Union to receive the Alfred Nobel Prize under the watchful eyes of the King of Norway from the hands  of the  Secretary-General  of the  Council_of_Europe , also the Chairman of the  Norwegian Nobel Committee ,  Thorbjørn Jagland ,  former Norwegian Prime Minister, who published the book “Min europeiske drøm” (My European dream)?

A  dream from which he probably never woke up, as never a treaty for ‘the establishment of the European Union‘ was concluded, but only a ‘Treaty on European Union’

Also responsible for awarding  the Nobel Peace Prize to Barack Obama, who as far as  human rights and according to Nobel’s testament , ‘ fraternity  between the nations’ are concerned, yet has to deliver.

Another salient detail being that the Nobel Peace Prize is traditionally handed out in Oslo. All other prizes are handed out in Stockholm, thereby offering  the lucky politicians an welcome escape to circumvent under these circumstances further entanglement in ongoing discussions about another sensitive issue in relation to Alfred Nobel’s  ‘fraternity between states’: Julius Assange.

De-politicizing the Nobel Prize.

Among many other jubilant press releases launched from the EU Headquarters, Van Rompuy was the first to dedicate the award of the Nobel Prize for Peace also to the European citizens, who, after all, put the money up to keep the European Union alive and prospering.

For this simple reason, more thought is to be given to bring forward an European citizen instead of a politician, who will receive on behalf of the entire European Union Alfred Nobel’s politicized Peace Prize out of the hands of the Chairman of the Norwegian Nobel Committee in the presence of the King of Norway. An award consisting of a diploma, a medal and a document confirming the prize amount.

Panem et circenses, Bread and circuses

To further de-politicize the Nobel Peace Prize Award, not that much fantasy is actually required how to single out this particular individual in the European Union. What factually is required are existing random generators, Lotto machines and per EU member state the central registers of the population.

In addition, the outsourcing of this election to the graciously subsidized and sponsored organization behind the Eurovision Song Contest festival should be considered, the next festival anyhow to be held in Sweden in 2013. An organization equipped with proven in-depth knowledge and experience to organize spectacular mega-events under difficult conditions, even beyond the borders of the European Union in Europe.

Thereby  bringing together an exceptional, symbolical example of another perception of border crossing solidarity, a high degree of entertainment, joy, competition, transparency, brother- and sisterhood, the freedom of choice not to participate in such an transparent  election and the award of a degraded, politicized Alfred Nobel’s Peace Prize.
